An introduction to Scratch

WARNING: This page is still under construction and will be updated after the 2013 Tech Summit

Scratch is a free web-based program that helps children create simple 2d interactive environments and share those environments with others. Educators have found Scratch valuable for teaching math, science, logic and simple programming skills throughout the K-12 curriculum. Participants will get an overview of the system, time to play with the system, and discuss ideas for integrating Scratch into existing units.

Solutions to sample projects

You know we're constantly taking. We don't make most of the food we eat, we don't grow it, anyway. We wear clothes other people make, we speak a language other people developed, we use a mathematics other people evolved and spent their lives building. I mean we're constantly taking things. It's a wonderful ecstatic feeling to create something and put it into the pool of human experience and knowledge. -- Steve Jobs, Rolling Stone, November 1983.
